A breathtaking night sky stretches above a serene landscape, with a gradient of pink and purple hues cast by astronomical phenomena, the Aurora Borealis. It was a rare and wondrous event.

A G5 solar flare created a colors that lit up the night skies with magenta, green and purple hues. The colors in the sky lasted a few days and decended much further south than normal.

The moon, is rising behind the distant mountains, illuminating the horizon and low lying clouds with a strong glow. Millions of stars in the skies can be seen in this low light pollution area of southern California.
