Out of Trouble

69" x 12" x 10"

Out of Trouble is my homage to the game of golf. Golf can be challenging, even trying, but it doesn't have to be that way. Shots that end up in the rough, or behind a tree, can just as easily be seen as lucky, as unlucky. Look at it this way. When would you get to hit that low screaming 2-iron if it weren't for being behind that low branch.
My mentor, John Fisher, welcomed mistakes. We all have the same set of images in our memory banks. We look for and find the same things on a blank canvas - usually the things we've seen in the real world. I want to carve something that will make people think and feel. If I change the shape of the stone I'm working on before I look for what's inside, maybe I'll seeing something unexpected, unusual, out of the ordinary. Fantastic even.
