I LOVE compliments..... Not the "you look nice today" kind, but art compliments, which are completely different. In painting compliments sit on opposite sides of the color wheel. They do not like each other, not even one little bit. When mixed together, they lose their own color and turn into mud grey. These mud brown neutrals make a perfect foil to show off the golden eye of an owl or the iridescence of a beetle wing. Compliments are useful too, full blast, unmixed. These red flowers really pop when paired with green leaves and background.
