Lindsay Thomson: Oak View in Spring

Most visitors drive right through the small town of Oak View without a second thought, intent on reaching Ojai. Last year, the Ojai Valley Lions Club completed a turnout on Highway 33 that has breathtaking views of the west side of our lovely Ojai Valley. The sign was welded from actual parts of railroad rails that ran from Ventura to Ojai. The sign reads "The Oak View", it's a bit of a pun. It may take a minute to "get it". Go during sunset, in spring, when the mountains are green and the clouds are moving across the skies and see what the majestic Coastal Live Oak Tree has been gazing on the past couple of centuries.
