ARTIST STATEMENT
Growing up in a rural town, I spent countless hours exploring the wildlands around my home. These early experiences cultivated a deep connection to the natural world that would later shape both my career in landscape architecture and my art practice.
My art studio work explores the interplay between serendipity and structure, using deliberate linework and patternmaking to create order within spontaneous elements. This approach is deeply influenced by my background in landscape architecture, where hand drawing maps and plans remains one of my main tools. I'm currently developing work that further bridges these disciplines.
Through abstract compositions, I seek to evoke the same sense of wonder I experience in nature. The process is iterative. As I explore color, drawing, and pattern, the work provides feedback that guides my next moves. What resonates most deeply is when viewers bring their own interpretations to the pieces, adding dimensions I couldn't have anticipated and completing the work through their unique perspectives.
