ARTIST STATEMENT
Although I have created art most of my life, I have been a professional artist since 1988 when I received my Master of Studio Arts from Cal State Northridge.
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s I was accepted in several juried shows at locations including the San Bernardino County Museum, the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, the Brand Library, the Southern California Women’s Caucus for Art and others. During that time, I also had several pieces on exhibit in two Santa Monica galleries, Merging One and Christopher John.
In the 1990’s I joined the Orlando Gallery in Sherman Oaks, later in Tarzana, and had one-person shows there in 1998 and 2006. I also had a one person show at the Tiffany Theater in Hollywood in the mid-1990’s.
From 1989 to 1999 I taught high school art at Campbell Hall School in North Hollywood, California.
After moving to Ojai in 2008, I was accepted in the Professional Arts category at several Ventura County Fairs. My paintings have been in shows at the Ojai Valley Museum and the Ojai Art Center. I was awarded “Hottest” in the 2010 Hot Summer Days/Hot Summer Nights show.
Since joining the Ojai Studio Artists, I have shown in many exhibitions at the Ojai Art Center, the Ojai Valley Museum, the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts and the Ventura Museum. I have also served as the President of that organization.
