I love the versatility of clay. With clay I can make something useful or something just for the fun of making. I have such a sense of accomplishment in making a piece as I start from a simple lump of clay, create the form, bisque fire, glaze and then fire again. There are many things that can accidentally happen that will send me in a new direction. Plus there is always that nudge to try something in a slightly different way to improve on a technique that you've doing for years or try something totally different. It’s a never ending parade of possibilities!
